Stop CBS, Hallmark from smearing Reagan with lies

October 30, 2003

By Conservative Petitions

Sounds like a sitcom premise: A forgetful, inattentive, foul-mouthed, callous lout of an American president, dominated by a pill-popping spouse, laughingly bumbling his way through the Oval Office. What fun!

Except it's no laughing matter! This really is how CBS intends to portray Ronald Reagan in an upcoming miniseries, "The Reagans," produced by Hallmark Entertainment. The media had contempt for Reagan while he was in office. Now CBS has decided to smear one of America's greatest presidents.

CBS brazenly is willing to twist and distort the remarkable character of Ronald Reagan in a desperate act to promote the liberal political agenda. The miniseries' goal is not only aimed at destroying Reagan's great legacy but at casting doubts on all conservatives going into an election year.

Don't let this smear happen! You, as a potential viewer, have the power to stop this character assassination from airing. Together with others, you certainly hold the clout to kill this hatchet job on the Reagans.

Sign the petition to Hallmark CEO Donald J. Hall, Jr. and CBS Chairman Les Moonves, demanding they shelve the show.

Act now! Let CBS and Hallmark know we see through their thinly veiled attempt at entertainment and recognize their true motive: to smear former President Reagan's reputation while promoting their liberal political agenda.

Let Hallmark and CBS know they are risking a boycott. You know, there are many makers of greeting cards available on the market -- something to bear in mind going into the big Christmas season.
